Sport Pilot License – (SPL)

Sport Pilot License (SPL) allows people to obtain the license at a lower cost and less complicated with specific privileges and restrictions as stipulated in (61 – Subpart J) of GACA law.

This license qualifies its holder to fly on light aircraft such as Fixed-Wing and Gyrocopter, which only accommodate two seats.

Privileges

• Operate as a pilot in command of a sport pilot-eligible aircraft.
• Carry a single passenger for non-commercial flights.
• Fly during the daytime using visual flight rules (VFR), and the visibility range should be more than 5 Km.
• Fly up to 10,000 feet above mean sea level (MSL) or 2,000 feet above ground level (AGL), whichever is higher.
• Fly in Class E and G airspace (and B, C, and D airspace with appropriate training).

Limitations

• Carry more than one passenger.
• Fly during the night from sunset to sunrise.
• Fly at the lower visibility range (less than 5 Km).
• Fly at altitudes of more than 10,000 feet above sea level (MSL) or 2,000 feet above ground level (AGL)
• Commercial use
• Fly in Class A airspace (and Class B, C, and D airspaces without appropriate training).

Obtaining the license

After completing the theoretical test and the practical requirements for the license, the instructor will sign the practical test form from GACA to determine the test date by the testers accredited by GACA.
